Principles of Design


Unity: this picture shows unity because everything belongs in the picture, nothing is uneven, and the picture shows relative symmetry.









Balance: this picture shows balance because there is symmetry within the corridor show and no real balancing flaws except for the camera not being placed in the very center of the corridor.







Dominance: here, the emphasis is on the boy in green and the boy in red. The other people are in the background and are darker and are dominated by the two in front.






Repetition: this picture shows repetition because the stairs make a pattern.






Rhythm: this picture shows rhythm because there are many shapes/designs within the pattern which are repeated.






Contrast: this eclipse is an obvious example of contrast because we see the outline of the sun, which is really bright, but the rest of the picture is extremely dark.
